Then the kit is for you, storing up to three Precision Grips, ten extra jaws (5 sets), and extra room for accessories (or even more jaws if you need it), this fella is ready to hold some serious kit! All bound in top grain leather with brass fixings and stitched with high tensile thread. This kit is styled like tool kits from the 40’s and is built to take some serious use.

Precision Grip
The most over-engineered precision locking tweezers on the planet! Powered by a lost mechanism from 1912 and combined with modern engineering, this brand new patented gripster is a tool for a new era of tiny creations.

A New Class Of Gripping Tool
The Precision Grip takes away the fiddly frustration of working on small parts so you can just enjoy the making.

Grip It, Don't Launch It

No more will your preloaded soldering tongs relegate that tiny part to the carpet monster, never to be seen again!
Why Have We Created MetMo Precision Grip?

In a world where everything is getting smaller, why have the tools for our miniatures stayed the same? And WHY are we still using things made for dentists to work on our projects?!

We need better, and that’s why we’ve created a whole new class of gripping tool, the Precision Grip. A tool inspired by the classics we love, with a modern engineering edge, because your little bits deserve more.
What Can It Do?
Need to hold a toy shark down? It might happen... but seriously,
Metal work, model making, miniatures, and more - Precision Grip isn’t a one hit wonder, it can be used in a multitude of ways! Whether you want to softly hold your Emperor’s Champion to give him a fresh lick of paint, or you need to grip some steel and get soldering, Precision Grip allows you to swap between jaws and perfectly calibrate your pressure, so nothing will escape your clutches again.
Still Works Like Tweezers

3 Grips In 1
Every millimetre of the Precision Grip has been considered and every surface, edge or spare nubbin has been utilised. You're not just carrying tweezers, this is a utilitarian gripping tool that locks on and doesn't let go.

Who's It For?
Creators and makers - this is for you! This is a tool that doesn’t just grip plastics and isn’t just great at making miniatures, it’s also robust enough for working with metal, solder, electronic components, securing fixings… if it's small and fiddly stuff you're working on, then this takes away the fiddly!

Or maybe you just appreciate fine engineering, great mechanisms and the satisfaction that you have every tool for any occasion in your arsenal of tools (although you'll probably want to keep this out on your desk to marvel at).
Built To Last
Every part is precision machined from premium metals and totally over engineered, just like the tools of old. Inspired by Victorian engineering, we asked why can’t we make things that still work in 200 years time? So that’s what we do, and that’s how we design. Then we hold ourselves to it by giving you that same 200 year guarantee, so it can be passed down to future generations of young tinkerers.

Hold Steady Wire You Work
The grooviest grip around! The set of three v-grooves in the centre of the Precision Grip are for forming and holding wire, so the grip can be converted into a makeshift stand for your parts while you work on them. That right there is multi-purpose comfort.

Pro Tips
- Standard Jaws - Solid all-round jaws for most jobs, come already installed.
- Fine Point Jaws - For working on delicate, tiny, or thin parts that don’t need as much pinching power.
- Needle Nose Jaws - Ideal for getting into difficult spaces and using as spring loaded tweezers.
- Reverse Grip Jaws - Great if you work on a lot of difficult shapes so you can clamp on the inside of an item, but still lets you use them like the standard jaws. Slightly thicker, to give you the same gripping power as the standard jaws.
- Angled Reverse Grip Jaws - The same as the above but at a new angle, great for painting parts or when you need to reposition your piece a lot.
Hardened Stainless Steel Tips

Tips of Titan
Upgrade any of the grips with titanium tips: lighter than steel, naturally non-magnetic, and extremely resistant to corrosion. Perfect if you're working on an acid farm or splitting amoebas.

Need a specialist set of fine point jaws for working with hot stuff? Need to keep magnetism to a minimum while working on PCB’s or watches? Or maybe you just want the bragging rights that come with titanium? Then these are the tips for you.
Endlessly Custom Jaws

We've started off the customising with our Round Base Holder (available as an add-on) and will be releasing a CAD file in a future update for the attachment point so you can print your own weird and wonderful clampy things. The world is your perfectly clamped oyster.

A Powerful Pinch!
At the tip, Precision Grip generates around 80 bar of pressure, comparable to the bite pressure of a spotted hyena…

We can achieve this because of our specially designed jaws which are incredibly strong right down to the fine tip, so the mechanical advantage you're able to apply to such a small area is incredibly high (1,160 psi to be precise!).
Overpowered, some might say... Yes, yes it is.
What's MetMo Made Of?
No cheap underrated knock off metals here. OK, so we might go a bit overboard with the specs on what we use. Does it need the same aerospace grade aluminium used in wing spars? Does it need stainless steel that can withstand an autoclave? Is the highest commercially available grade of titanium you can buy outside of military really necessary if you're not going into space?
Well, let’s be honest, no. But damn does it make a really nice tool that will outlast everything else, and that you can pass down generations. Who knows, by that time maybe we'll all be space faring and they'll need the lightweight Precision Grip to get them out of a bind.
If you're working mainly in plastics you will love the lightweight versatility of the aluminium. If you're working with harder stuff or just want something that will be found in the bedrock of a new society one day, then Stainless Steel is for you. If you're Titanium obsessed and want the best of both then ride that Ti train out of metal town.

Testing
Our process is one of caution and vigilance. Every part is questioned, tested, and re-tested as we make it. We normally do a destruction test to push our tools to absolute breaking point, and concentrate on maximum torque load. For this precision instrument that felt a bit like using a pair of callipers as a hammer, so we opted for some different tests… Mostly!
These consist of a mixture of gripping tests and tensile material tests in both real world and simulated environments to make sure these grips last our 200 years.
Starting with the pinch! Comfortable gripping force with human hands maxed out at 4.9kg of force that can be applied at the very tips of the grip. Early on we used these tests to ensure the whole thing had a little bit of flex in the product but not too much so things are gripped tight but not destroyed.
Our tests were conducted on the first 3mm of the jaws, where 4.9 kg of clamping force concentrated through just 6mm² is the equivalent to around 80 bar of contact pressure or 1,160 psi.

Here we are testing the clamping force with a specially designed rig we built to measure total grip force, as well as the stability of the hold over longer periods of time.
By comparison, standard tweezers max out around 2.7kg, but the old standard tweezers look a bit sorry for themselves at this level and that amount of deflection isn't good for holding anything.

Working through these kind of tests, and combining this knowledge with the experience of developing four other grippy projects with a variety of clamping threads, we designed our very own version of a trapezoidal thread that gives the Precision Grip power, speed, and control in a very tight space.

In simulated environments we had the advantage that we could subject each individual part to extreme stress situations, and we're doing some of that here!

We were looking for repeated strain points and possible areas for failure. During development we did this kind of simulation repeatedly to remove the weak points until we got to the finished design that we know will go on pinching for years to come.
